Rocksteady TNT · Dressed For Success (I Guess)

I don't have any nice things to wear
And oh how I wish I hadn't cut my own hair
If only I hadn't slept so late
Maybe my shoes and socks would all coordinate

With honesty I will confess
I was never really one to wear a dress
High-heeled shoes up on tippy toes
Trying not to fall down while I fight my pantyhose

Got to iron my two-piece suit
The one I bought way back in nineteen ninety-two
Hardly worn, so it still looks okay
Even though the elbows on it look a little frayed

Should I wear a blouse or wear a turtleneck?
Or a comfy t-shirt - oh, what the heck
Can I do this interview with my slippers on
Wearin' my green hoodie looking like a leprechaun

No time to dither or hesitate
Only got what I'm wearing so no choice to alternate
Corporate world can be so uptight
Stressing what to wear's unfair and keeps me up at night

Much prefer dressing casual
Jeans and sneakers, anything comfortable
Keep your dress codes and your protocols
I just wanna roll on up there in my overalls

No time to spit and polish my shoes
Bought 'em with my suit back in nineteen ninety-two
I've been brushing my teeth for quite a while
Most important thing - is just to wear a smile

Dressed to dazzle and dressed to impress
Willing to commute or relocate for success
Check in the mirror and my hair is all in place
Printed out my CV dusted off my briefcase

Wish me luck, 'cause here I go
Bring on the circus, bring on the rodeo
Elegant and dressed for the role
Debonair and dapper and beauty to behold
